Dan Steen serves the American Property Casualty Insurance Association as Vice President, Liability. In this role, Dan leads the industry's proactive thought leadership, strategy, and development of tactics on legal defense and reform, a top industry priority. He works with APCIA members to prioritize and advance initiatives on legal defense and reform, at both the state and federal levels, and engages with key allies on legislative and regulatory liability issues.

Dan brings to his role for the property and casualty industry an understanding of frontline business legal defense and reform issues, having previously served as Vice President of Government Affairs for a global manufacturer. His leadership roles include service as chair of the legal reform policy subcommittee for the National Association of Manufacturers and as a member of the Board of the American Tort Reform Association. He has worked extensively in Europe, South America and the Asia Pacific regions. He also has extensive experience both in litigation and in advising corporations and trade associations as an attorney with an international law firm.

Dan received his Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law. He is a member of the District of Columbia and Virginia Bars. In his free time, he expresses his deep commitment to community development through his service on the Board of Directors for Keep America Beautiful, a national NGO focused on community beautification, post-disaster restoration and recycling.
